In a news conference held at Mar-a-Lago, President-elect Donald Trump delivered a statement regarding the ongoing hostage situation in Gaza. He warned that “all hell will break out” in the Middle East if the hostages were not returned by Inauguration Day and did not rule out the possibility of using military force to gain control of the Panama Canal and Greenland as part of his second-term agenda. Additionally, he proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
Trump also addressed the legal challenges he is facing, including the New York hush money sentencing set for Friday and special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into him. He described a judge’s decision to block Smith’s final report as “great news” and mentioned that he is considering pardoning January 6 rioters charged with violent offenses.
With the 119th Congress marking the beginning of Republican control of both chambers, Trump outlined his plan to consolidate his entire agenda into a single, massive bill. However, he acknowledged the potential difficulties the narrowly divided Congress posed and expressed openness to splitting the agenda into two bills if it expedites the process.
