People will stop killing young Russian soldiers, young Ukrainian soldiers, and other innocent civilians in towns and cities. We consider this a very important achievement and a significant accomplishment. Until this administration came into power, there was no progress. For two years, no one had spoken to President Putin. We will keep you updated on further developments. Before we begin the cabinet meeting, I’d like to invite Scott and a couple of others to say a few words. Most importantly, where are you? This gentleman is the head of HUD, and he’s going to lead us in prayer. Thank you very much. Let’s pray.
**00:00:36**
Father, we thank you for this incredible privilege to be in your presence. Thank you for allowing us to see this day. Your mercies are new every morning, and we give you all the glory and honor. We thank you for President Trump and for appointing us to these roles. Thank you for anointing us to do this work. We pray for wisdom for the president and vice president as they lead. We pray for all my colleagues here at this table and in this room. May we lead with righteous clarity as we serve the people of this country. In every agency and every role, may we humble ourselves before you and lead as you have called us to lead. The Bible says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Today, we honor you and place you in your rightful position. Thank you for allowing us to restore faith in this country and be a blessing to the people of America. Lord, we pray that you will be glorified in our conversations today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
**00:01:09**
That was very well done. You’ve done that before, haven’t you? Scott Turner is a terrific young man, heading up HUD. He’s going to make us all very proud. Thank you, Scott. Great job.
**00:02:13**
In just over one month, illegal border crossings have plummeted by unprecedented numbers—more than 100%. We’ve unleashed American energy at levels that will soon be reported. We have incredible people working on energy, and I believe we have great people on every front. I’ll let you know if they’re not, but I think they’re doing a fantastic job. We’re fighting every day to bring prices down. Inflation is slowing, partly due to high interest rates and other inherited issues. However, we need to focus on reducing the prices of goods, like eggs and other essentials. Eggs, in particular, have been a disaster. The Secretary of Agriculture will show you a mind-boggling chart—how low prices were under our administration and how high they are now. But I believe we can fix this. Madam Secretary, I think you’re going to do a fantastic job in that role.
**00:03:18**
One of our most important initiatives is cutting waste, fraud, and abuse. We’ve already saved billions of dollars and are aiming to cut trillions. If we can achieve that, we’ll be on track to balance the budget—something you haven’t heard in decades. Whether it’s this year or next, we’ll be very close to balancing the budget. Elon Musk is here to give you an update on what’s happening. He’ll share some of the shocking findings, including theft, fraud, and waste. Some of it is outright fraud, and some may be hard to prove, but when you hear the names and places where this money is going, it’s disgraceful. We’ve sent out letters to verify the existence and employment status of individuals. If they can’t answer simple questions like, “What have you done lately?” it raises red flags. Many haven’t responded, which suggests they may not exist or are working multiple jobs while being paid by the government. This is a unique situation, but we’re dealing with a lot of dishonest people who took advantage of the system. We’re not going to let that continue.
**00:05:20**
I’d like to ask Elon to speak first about the progress we’re making. There’s a large group of people in this country who admire what we’re doing. I was elected with a tremendous mandate, winning every swing state, the popular vote, and thousands of counties. We have a responsibility to deliver on our promises, including balancing the budget and getting our country back on track. Elon, if you could explain where we are, how we’re doing, and how much we’re cutting, that would be great. It’s an honor to have you here. You’ve been working incredibly hard, and we appreciate your efforts.
**00:06:29**
Thank you, Mr. President. I’m here to provide humble tech support, as the work the DoGE team is doing is essentially fixing government computer systems. Many of these systems are outdated, don’t communicate with each other, and are riddled with errors. Our goal is to address the enormous deficit we’re facing. We cannot sustain $2 trillion deficits. The interest on the national debt now exceeds the defense budget. If this continues, the country will go bankrupt. This is not optional—it’s essential. That’s why I’m here, despite the criticism and even death threats. If we don’t act, America will go bankrupt. I’m confident we can find $1 trillion in savings, which is roughly 15% of the $7 trillion budget. This can only be done with the support of everyone in this room. Thank you for your support.
**00:08:45**
DoGE is a support function for the president and agencies to achieve these savings. We’re bringing receipts—line by line, we specify each item. We’ll make mistakes, but we’ll fix them quickly. For example, we accidentally canceled Ebola prevention funding briefly, but we restored it immediately. We need to move quickly if we’re to achieve a $1 trillion deficit reduction by 2026. That requires saving $4 billion every day from now until the end of September. But we can do it, and we will.
**00:09:57**
If anyone has questions for Elon, now is the time to ask. Please go ahead.
**00:10:27**
Mr. Musk, the president mentioned on Truth Social that everyone in the cabinet is happy with your work. Have you heard otherwise? Are there any cabinet members who are dissatisfied, and if so, how are you addressing that?
**00:11:12**
Let the cabinet speak for themselves. Is anyone unhappy? If you are, speak up. But I can tell you, for the most part, everyone is not only happy but thrilled. President Trump has assembled the best cabinet in history. This is an incredible group of people, and I believe it’s the most talented team ever assembled. The country should be incredibly appreciative of the people in this room.
**00:12:19**
Mr. Musk, about half of the government employees have responded to your request for information on their recent work. Is there a timeline for the next steps, such as firings, and when can we expect to see results?
**00:13:23**
Yes, to clarify, the email was a pulse check, not a performance review. We’re simply trying to determine if these individuals exist, are alive, and can respond to an email. We believe there are people on the government payroll who are deceased or fictional. So far, about a million employees have responded. For those who haven’t, we’ll send another email. Our goal is not to be unfair but to ensure accountability. If someone can’t respond, it raises serious questions.
**00:14:31**
I’d like to add that those who haven’t responded are in the bubble. Maybe they don’t exist, or maybe they’re working multiple jobs. We’re still investigating, but it’s clear that the previous administration was not run tightly. We’re finding a lot of waste and dishonesty, and we’re committed to fixing it.
**00:15:37**
We’re also looking at cutting unnecessary agencies. For example, we’re planning to move education back to the States, where it belongs. We spend more per student than any other country, yet our rankings are at the bottom. It’s unacceptable, and we’re going to fix it.
**00:16:37**
We’re also addressing fraud in Social Security. We’ve found cases where checks are being sent to people who are over 200 years old. We’re tracing these cases down, and I believe we’ll make significant progress.
**00:17:09**
We’re going to balance the budget, and we’re going to do it soon. Whether it’s this year or next, we’ll be very close. This is a big part of why I was elected, and we’re going to deliver on that promise.
**00:18:19**
I’m impressed with everyone in this room. It’s still early, but I think we’ve assembled the best team ever. We’re cutting down the size of government, and we’re going to make sure it’s efficient and effective.
**00:19:18**
We’re also addressing fraud in Social Security. We’ve found cases where checks are being sent to people who are over 200 years old. We’re tracing these cases down, and I believe we’ll make significant progress.
**00:20:18**
We’re also addressing the border crisis. Illegal crossings have dropped dramatically, and we’re working to secure the border further. We’ve set records for the lowest number of illegal crossings in over 50 years, and we’re going to keep it that way.
**00:21:20**
We want people to come to our country, but they must come legally. We’re working on a system that allows companies to recruit top talent from around the world while ensuring they contribute to our economy.
**00:22:28**
The Trump Gold Card is part of this effort. For $5 million, individuals can get a green card and contribute to our economy. This will help us pay down our debt and create jobs. We’re going to make sure this program is successful.
**00:23:51**
The EB-5 program has been around for years, but it was poorly overseen. We’re modifying it to ensure proper investments and oversight. We think this will be a very successful program.
**00:25:07**
If we sell 200,000 gold cards, that’s $1 trillion to pay down our debt. This is a big part of our plan to balance the budget and pay off the debt.
**00:26:06**
We’re also addressing the issue of top talent leaving the country. Many companies want to hire the best students from top schools, but they can’t because of visa issues. The gold card will help us retain that talent.
**00:27:11**
If we sell 10 million gold cards, that’s $50 trillion—enough to pay off our debt entirely. I think there’s a real thirst for this program, and we’re going to make it work.
**00:28:12**
On Ukraine, we’re working on a deal that will bring peace and security. We’re also partnering with Ukraine on rare earth minerals, which we need for our energy and technology sectors.
**00:29:13**
My number one priority is to stop the killing. I see pictures every week of soldiers being killed, and it’s heartbreaking. We’re going to do everything we can to bring peace to the region.
**00:30:11**
We’re also going to get our money back. The previous administration spent $350 billion in Ukraine without any chance of getting it back. We’re going to make sure we get that money back, plus more.
**00:31:12**
Consumer confidence has dropped sharply, but overall confidence in the nation has increased significantly since the election. We’re on the right track, and we’re going to keep moving forward.
**00:32:16**
I never comment on Taiwan, but I can tell you that we have a great relationship with China. We want them to invest in the United States, and we’ll have a good relationship with them.
**00:33:10**
We’re also addressing the fentanyl crisis. We’re losing 300,000 people a year to fentanyl, and we’re going to stop it. We’re working with Mexico and Canada to secure the border and stop the flow of drugs.
**00:34:14**
We’re also addressing the measles outbreak in Texas. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will take action as needed.
**00:35:53**
On Gaza, we’re working on a ceasefire. It’s a very sad situation, and we’re doing everything we can to bring peace to the region.
**00:37:34**
We’re also reviewing the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. There will be full accountability for those responsible.
**00:39:32**
We’re going to keep Bagram Air Base and ensure it’s used to protect our interests in the region. We’re not going to let China take advantage of us.
**00:41:01**
We’re also addressing the issue of military equipment left behind in Afghanistan. We’re going to get that equipment back and make sure it’s used properly.
**00:42:08**
We’re not going to touch Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. We’re going to look for fraud, but we’re not going to cut benefits.
**00:43:11**
We’re also addressing the issue of tariffs. We’re going to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico if they don’t do more to stop the flow of fentanyl.
**00:44:20**
We’re losing 300,000 people a year to fentanyl, and we’re going to stop it. We’re working with Mexico and Canada to secure the border and stop the flow of drugs.
**00:46:00**
We’re also addressing the issue of subsidies to Canada. We give them $200 billion a year, and it’s not fair. We’re going to make sure they pay their fair share.
**00:47:41**
We’re also addressing the issue of tariffs on the European Union. We’re going to impose a 25% tariff on cars and other goods to level the playing field.
**00:49:16**
We’re not going to privatize deportations. We’re going to handle that through the proper channels.
**00:50:24**
We’re also addressing the issue of election integrity. We’re going to go back to paper ballots and ensure our elections are fair and secure.
**00:52:05**
We’re also addressing the issue of the FCC. They’re looking into the actions of CBS News, and we’re going to make sure they’re held accountable.
**00:53:03**
I’ve dealt with some tough negotiators, but President Putin is very smart and cunning. I think we’re going to make a deal that brings peace to Ukraine.
**00:54:44**
We’re going to do everything we can to bring peace to Ukraine and stop the killing. It’s a very sad situation, and we’re going to do our best to fix it.
**00:56:08**
We’re also addressing the issue of the gold card. We’re going to make sure it’s a successful program that brings in top talent and helps pay down our debt.
**00:57:19**
We’re also addressing the measles outbreak in Texas. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will take action as needed.
**00:58:15**
We’re going to support European peacekeepers in Ukraine. We’re going to do everything we can to bring peace to the region.
**00:59:43**
We’re also addressing the issue of the federal workforce. We’re going to cut waste and ensure the government is run efficiently.
**01:02:09**
We’re going to balance the budget, and we’re going to do it soon. This is a big part of why I was elected, and we’re going to deliver on that promise.
